Empowering Farmers

Project Goals

The primary goal was to design a user-friendly app that allowed farmers to access and interact with essential information quickly. This meant creating an experience that made information retrieval simple, with minimal barriers, and that resonated with farmers’ day-to-day needs.

Challenges

Information Accessibility: Many farmers face challenges accessing reliable information on farming techniques, weather, and crop care due to language barriers or limited access to technology.

Content Organization: Ensuring that the knowledge database, Yielder-Pedia, and home section were organized intuitively, making it easy for users to find relevant information.

User Education: Some farmers had limited experience with digital platforms, so the app needed to be intuitive and straightforward.

Role & Responsibilities

Process

As part of the design team, I was responsible for:

• Conducting user research to understand the unique needs and preferences of farmers.

• Developing user flows, wireframes, and high-fidelity prototypes.

• Testing the interface with a sample group of farmers to ensure usability and accessibility.

Research: Interviews and surveys with farmers provided insights into their needs, specifically regarding easy navigation and simple, jargon-free content.

Ideation: I created user flows to prioritize the Yielder-Pedia and home sections, focusing on a minimalistic design to avoid overwhelming users.

Design & Prototyping: After wireframing, I developed a prototype with an intuitive layout, incorporating large buttons, straightforward language, and visual cues.

User Testing: Conducted usability tests with farmers to gather feedback on the interface’s clarity and ease of navigation.
